Project: Extension, South Ealing

The brief:

To provide an attractive dining area, family room and more spacious kitchen from a narrow L-shaped room.

The solution:

The existing kitchen and dining room were extremely cramped. The extension filled in the L of the original ground floor plan and remodelled the back part of the room to provide a study/relaxation area. A timber flooring system was used throughout to increase the impression of space. Large glazed sliding doors gave access to the garden, with large roof lights providing additional daylight. A strong colour was introduced to provide interest and to contrast with the kitchen - otherwise, the design was kept as simple and clean as possible.
