Project: Loft Conversion in Brentford

The Brief:

To create an office area and spare bedroom, in a loft with limited headroom, without losing space from the main bedroom for a staircase.

The Solution:

The most important consideration was to find the best way to run stairs to the loft without having to lose any space from the main bedroom.

The most effective approach was to make the shower room en suite and incorporate the plumbing (which had to run to the rear of the house), into a slightly lowered first floor landing ceiling.

The loft was to be used as an office space and a guest bedroom. An alcove was designed to define the sleeping area as separate from the office area.

Careful consideration was given to the office area, which is at the front of the house, so that the headroom would be sufficient.

The exterior of the dormer was clad with a beautiful quality Welsh slate to blend in with the existing roof.
